Huntly + Kaylah Truth + May Lyn + G Elenil

Open House is back for round #2 as part of 4ZZZ's Queensland Women's Week celebrations with four acts you can dance, sing and cry* to all in the one night.

Huntly are coming up from Melbourne to headline the night touring their second EP 'Songs in Your Name'. The BrisBORN trio (well, singer Elly Scrine is from Brisbane) had a bumper 2016 with BIGSOUND showcases, major festival spots and TRULY MAKING IT after their single 'We Made It' cracked 1 million plays on Spotify

They'll be joined by local rapper Kaylah Truth, whose hard-hitting flow recently saw her collaborate with NITV and a swag of leading hip hop artists for 'Change the Date', a track calling for Australia Day to be moved to, well, any day that doesn't celebrate colonisation and genocide. May Lyn will be serving up downtempo R&B smoothness for her first gig of 2017, and you can rely on G Elenil to deliver velvet melodies and fierce raps over skewed beats to light the dancefloor on

OPEN HOUSE respectfully acknowledges the continuing sovereignty of the Turrbal and Jagera people over the land on which The Empire stands, and pay respects to their elders past, present and emerging. This is a Queensland Women's Week event, a celebration of what women are doing all over the state. Open House acknowledges gender binaries are more harmful than helpful for many, and it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the work of gender diverse people in a cis-dominated music industry/world.

*You'll cry because you are seeing all of these amazing acts for FREE

Massive thanks to Queensland Government and YWCA Queensland for the funding which made this event possible.
