Join Ruckus for a beautiful Sunday afternoon of spoken word, music and our first event for 2016.

International and Local artists will give you an inspirational kick. Just read on a little further…

DEBORAH EMMANUEL (Singapore) (Spoken Word)
Deborah Emmanuel is a Singaporean writer, performer and three-time TEDx speaker whose work and dialogue has featured at The Singapore Writer’s Festival, Bali Emerging Writers Festival and the Queensland Poetry Festival.

STEPHANIE DOGFOOT (Singapore) (Spoken Word)
Stephanie Dogfoot has performed her work all over Europe and Southeast Asia, from the Glastonbury Festival and the Poetry Slam World Cup in Paris to the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival and the Singapore Writers Festival. She is currently part of the Sekaliwags, the feminist all-woman poetry collective, and hosts the Singapore Story Slam as well as a monthly spoken word event called SPEAK.

STEVEN OLIVER (Australia) (Spoken Word)
Next up we have the man who made the ABC the GAYBC with the catchphrase "What's this then slut" from the kinda hit show Black Comedy. Don't expect any funny shit tonight though as he gives us a more serious, personal insight into the realms of identity. If you want funny shit get him drunk after his set. Paying for his drinks ensures hilarity and possibly messy, drunken sex that could possibly be funny or horrible. It's the risk you take. Live on the edge.

NATHAN JOHN KEARNEY (Australia) (Music)
Nathan John Kearney's 2015 release Minimal Animal stripped his story-songs back to the most simple folk elements; vocals and acoustic guitar. On his upcoming release, which he will be premiering material from on the day, he's gone a step further and limited his sonic resources to just the bass guitar and vocals. Oftentimes singing acapella, his heartfelt songs tow the line between spoken word and music.

All ages event. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
