Magnus Murphy
The man the myth the maggo. Stoked to be finally gigging together, after the band essentially grew from his practice room. After helping us heaps with little recordings and wisdom back when we were a 5-piece in highschool, he's since brached out himself into numerous projects. Finally his bangin solo project has just been unveiled yeww, with pure class and professionalism. So get frothed out over his unique pipes and have a boogie

Shag Rock's sophomore album Barefoot was recorded with long time supporter and ex-Powderfinger guitarist turned producer Ian Haug at Brisbane's Airlock Studios. The band also enlisted the mixing skills of world renowned engineer Nick Di Dia (Rage Against The Machine) to create a cohesive album that not only reflects their traditional indie/surf-rock sounds but introduces a deeper element of thought provoking lyrics and unique musical intricacies.

"Blood sweat and beers were poured into this album and we couldn’t be happier with the end product. With 11 songs, we feel like we’ve finally zoned into a coherent band sound that translates through the album. It was designed to bring some tasty flavours and encapsulate the chilled surf rock vibe" Explains Alex Wilson on the making of Barefoot.

Barefoot will mark a huge progression in the bands sound which was partly due to the recording process, working together as a band and alongside some legends of the industry. "There were a few headaches along the way, some part of the process, some not. Through big changes in parts and everyone having their bad days, we got there in the end, making it as perfect as we could and pouring our heart and soul into every second of the album. Although the album has an inherent purpose in its sound, every song is different from the other and range from driving indie rock (in Lip Addiction), heartfelt story-telling (Stolen), to tranquilising acoustics (in Crack the Code and Headland)." - Alex Wilson
