Melbourne trio The Peep Tempel return with their long-awaited third album Joy. Recorded and mixed this year with Anna Laverty at Sing Sing Studios, Joy follows their 2014 Australian Music Prize shortlisted album, Tales. An album that captured the band a slew of fans across Australia, was described as not only a near-perfect punk record, but a brutal look at contemporary suburban Australia.
With Joy, for the most part, is an exploration of the human state of mind. Human thought, is a pure and true chaos and the album represents the full spectrum of that chaos. From the paranoid, yet elated “Totality” to the stark, isolated landscape of “Constable”. The Peep Tempel’s live show has been described as both energetic and scabrous in equal doses, earning them a reputation as one of Australia’s most powerful live acts.
