The World Of Syrah Saturday Tasting says
For this weekend’s tasting we’re going to dive head first into the world of Syrah, the cool climate face of the Shiraz grape we all know and love. Whilst we are all very familiar with the big and bold fruited Shirazes found in warm climate regions like the Barossa Valley, the cool climate takes on this variety are somewhat unknown to many Australians.

Syrah’s home in France’s Rhone Valley is considerably cooler than many of its adopted regions in Australia. As a result the wines, whilst still having richness and palate weight, are much more silky, elegant and endlessly brooding. This style has been becoming more common in Australia over the last few years with the Adelaide Hills and multiple Victorian regions offering up wines of elegance and finesse that show the various faces that this grape can produce.

This tasting is sure to interest those with a love for Shiraz, but it’s also something that many Pinot Noir devotees will be surprised to find they’ll also enjoy immensely. Come join us this weekend and discover what cool climate Shiraz (or Syrah if you’d prefer) is all about.
