All proceeds go toward reaching our final target to rebuild a school in Bakrang, Nepal, destroyed by the earthquake of 2015. Village of Light Inc. is an association of permaculturalists and earth builders based in Australia. Our aim is to hold conscious events to raise money for permaculture, earth care, earth building and sustainability projects around the world. Our current project is focusing on re-building a school in Bakrang Nepal that was damaged in the 2015 earthquakes.Village of Dance is a fund raising event for this mud brick re-build. In late 2015, the Village of Light Association raised just over $12 000 to rebuild the school in Bakrang out of earth bags. Unfortunately the Nepalese government legislated against earth bags for schools in Nepal at the same time. After partnering with Build Up Nepal and talking to the local community in March 2016, re-building the school out of earth blocks was agreed as the solution. This process will allow vollies to work side by side with local villagers to learn how to earth build and will leave an earth block machine in the village for a sustainable community enterprise. We also hope vollies will help to establish some permaculture gardens and systems whilst the school is being rebuilt from August - December 2016. The earth block school will cost a further $19 000 and due to a generous donation, we only need a few thousand dollars to reach our target. Please join us for a night of dance and celebration to help raise the remaining money we need for this project to go ahead. We will have photos of the project and information about how to volunteer on the mudbrick build and permaculture gardens on the night.
