Welcome To The Whales 2016 says

Visit Moreton Bay Region’s Redcliffe Jetty on June 15th to join the celebrations ushering in the region’s humpback whale migration season.

Moreton Bay Region is the proud host of the official ‘Welcome to the Whales’ event celebrating the imminent arrival of the 18,000 humpback whales which swim and frolic through our waters just outside the bay along the Humpback Highway each year during their breeding migration season.

The whole Moreton Bay Region community is invited to participate in the day’s festivities on Redcliffe Jetty Beach from 2pm to past 6pm, on behalf of the event organisers: Visit Moreton Bay Region.

2.00pm – 5.00pm: ‘Eye-Spy’ Boat open at end of Redcliffe Jetty, plus watch the GIGANTIC whale sculpture build
4.30pm – 5.00pm: Music Duo
5.00pm: Welcome to Country, Didgeridoo, Whale Story and Smoking Ceremony
5.15pm: Mayor
5.20pm: Choir
5.30pm: Whale information talk by Captain Kerry Lopez
5.35pm: Public participation in the ‘Whale Wishes’ Ceremony
5.35pm: Music Duo
5.45pm: Fireworks
