Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

This St Nick's food stall has been serving vegetarian food to the people of Bristol for over 35 years

Royce Rolls is Bristol’s original vegetarian café. It opened way back in 1979, and has taken prime position serving Bristolians from the heart of St Nicholas market ever since. Get there quick at lunch time to bag one of the few tables that are both inside and out and don’t expect fancy décor. Think rustic, bustling and slightly old fashioned – this is one of the original whole food cafés, after all.

The food is simple and varied with a menu that includes everything from samosas and bhajis to jacket potatoes and rolls stuffed with various vegetarian (and occasionally fish) fillings. This is fast, fresh food to eat in or take away that won’t leave you feeling like you’ve overdone it.

If you’re following a gluten-free diet, the good news is that Royce Rolls also sells a good selection of gluten-free sweet treats. It's open all day, so pop in for breakfast, coffee and cake for elevenses, lunch or something sweet to pick you up in the afternoon.
