1. El Emergente

In the heart of Abasto, El Emergente has been the home of Buenos Aires’ underground scene for more than 15 years. With a capacity of 150 people, it has been the birthplace of many bands that later moved on to bigger circuits.
Run independently by the Asociación Civil Alabasto, in 2015 it opened a cultural hub with twice the capacity in Almagro, at Acuña de Figueroa 1030. The space also hosts photography exhibitions, fairs, a nightclub, foosball and ping-pong tables, as well as rehearsal rooms. It’s one of those places where something is always happening, no matter when you go.
The tip: You can get a sense of the energy that El Emergente transmits from a live album recorded there by Winona Riders, one of the leading names in Argentina’s current indie scene, in 2023. It was released on cassette, making it a collector’s item for music lovers.
Where: Gallo 333, Balvanera.
