Time Out says

Tucked away in the trees and sitting on over 60 acres of land, Beach Plum Farm is part working farm, part resort. The property is minutes away from downtown Cape May and the beach, making it the ideal homebase no matter the season.

Why stay at Beach Plum Farm?

Recently awarded a Michelin One Key, Beach Plum Farm is one of three New Jersey hotels that have received the award, and it’s no surprise why. The grounds are well kept and the upscale cottages and barns are comfortable—offering guests an extremely special stay.

Besides comfortable cottages and clean grounds, Beach Plum Farm also offers interactive experiences, including farm tours, egg harvesting and group dining experiences led by the farm’s team. If you’re looking for a calm, quaint and restoring weekend getaway in a cute and coastal town, Beach Plum Farm is the clear choice.

What are the rooms and cottages like at Beach Plum Farm?

Beach Plum Farm sits on 62 acres of farmland and consists of six cottages, with whole homes or individual rooms available for booking. I stayed in the Hidden Barn Cottage, a charming, Amish-built sanctuary that feels and looks like a cabin pulled out of a magazine.

The cottage includes 3 bedrooms—two with queen beds and one with two twin beds, two bathrooms, a fully-functioning kitchen, a living room and two enclosed porches that are nestled amongst trees. This was a cottage that I wouldn’t mind moving into—I felt extremely comfortable and loved how curated the decor and furniture was. Everything in the house made sense, from the firepit and picnic table on the porch to the wonderfully equipped kitchen filled with everything you need to make a delicious farm-fresh meal.

The thoughtfully designed and spacious cottages make Beach Plum Farm the perfect destination for family gatherings, reunions, holidays or quiet retreats with loved ones.

What are the best places to eat and drink nearby?

Just a few minutes away from the cottages sits a kitchen and takeout window that serves breakfast and lunch using fresh produce from the farm. Guests can enjoy breakfast sandwiches, pork sandwiches, frittata and salads or soups. If you’re looking for a quick snack, Beach Plum Farm has a market that sells products harvested from the farm, including veggies and fruits, jams, honey, meat and eggs.

For dining nearby, The Blue Pig Tavern, a classic American restaurant tucked in the corner of Congress Hall, uses fresh produce from Beach Plum Farm—so dining there during your stay is a must. If you’re looking to grab a quick bite and a drink, Ugly Mug Bar & Restaurant and Delaney's Irish Pub and Grill are great options. For a quick breakfast and coffee, head to Coffee Tyme

What is the service like at Beach Plum Farm?

The service at Beach Plum Farm was incredible from the start. I let the Beach Plum Farm team know that I was going to be arriving a little late and asked what check-in would look like. I received clear instructions and a walk-through video on how to access the cottage and where to park. Upon arrival, the refrigerator was stocked with farm-fresh breakfast items, including eggs, brioche buns, bacon and jalapeño ketchup. The check-in experience was smooth and I felt extremely taken care of.

Throughout my stay, several employees made sure to reach out and make sure I was satisfied. The staff is very knowledgeable and recommended great places nearby to check out, including the Cape May Peanut Butter Company and The Blue Pig Tavern, a Cape May favorite.

What’s the area like around Beach Plum Farm?

Cape May’s lively three-block, pedestrian-only outdoor shopping and dining district, Washington Street Mall, is just a mile away from Beach Plum Farm. The main street is filled with shops, specialty boutiques, restaurants and bars. This area of Cape May is where all the action happens, just a few blocks away from the beach and boardwalk.

No matter the time of year, downtown Cape May is always busy. While the summer months are the busiest, I recommend visiting during the fall and winter months. The town’s cheery vibe and festive decor transports you into a holiday movie.

The Cape May Jitney Shuttle is a free and frequent shuttle that connects to the Washington Street Mall and downtown area. If you’re looking to walk, Cape May is a pedestrian friendly city, with most restaurants and shops within walking distance from each other.

Why you should book a stay at Beach Plum Farm

Beach Plum Farm is more than a place to rest overnight, it’s a sanctuary. Whether you’re looking for a quiet getaway to recharge your batteries or a fun-filled weekend with family and friends, Beach Plum Farm makes it enjoyable no matter what.
