1 Hotel Central Park

1 Hotel Central Park

4 out of 5 stars
Just a block from Central Park South, 1 Hotel Central Park is a green hotel combines nature with comfort, the perfect place if you’re looking to be close to the hustle and bustle of midtown and the calmness of Central Park. When I walked through the large wooden doors of the hotel and stepped inside the lobby, I noticed that the space is filled with nature-inspired decor including glass terrariums, potted plants, and walls of tree bark—all paying homage to the iconic green space just a block away.  I stayed in the City King room which included a bed, small table, TV, king-sized bed and two night tables. The size of the room was comfortable for a Manhattan hotel and the green, nature-focused decor made the room feel so homey. The wood paneling and plants made me feel like I was staying in someone’s well-decorated guest room, which I really enjoyed. The attention to detail is prominent throughout the entire hotel, from the plants in the lobby to the potted moss on the bedroom windowsills. If you’re looking to stay at a hotel close to the hustle and bustle of midtown Manhattan, while also being a few steps away from Central park, this is the spot.  Neighborhood: Just two avenues over you can find shops and restaurants at in Columbus Circle, including Momofuku Noodle Bar, Per Se and Bāng Bar.  Time Out tip: Skip room service and head downstairs to Jams for breakfast in the morning and try their Brioche French Toast.
Villa Cordevigo

Villa Cordevigo

5 out of 5 stars
Approaching Villa Cordevigo, I’m already in awe. This place is all about the details: cypress trees lining the long driveway leading up to the hotel’s entrance, gorgeous statues of Italian greyhounds and walls adorned with paintings of birds.  I’m led by friendly staff to my building, the Astolfo Suite, a luxurious red room with windows overlooking the property and the villa restaurant. The space screams old-school Italian glamour, all plush red velvet and golden drapes and furniture, lit by a huge chandelier. Best of all, it’s roomy. Downstairs you have a large dining table, a minibar and a spacious bathroom, upstairs you have a king bed and nightstands adorned with floral applique.  There are two restaurants on-site – Michelin-starred gourmet Oseleta for when you’re feeling fancy, and Ristorante Cordevigo for an informal alternative, where we enjoyed flavorful pasta dishes, fresh seafood and wines from the Cordevigo vineyard. The villa also has a spa that includes hot tubs, saunas and Turkish baths, a pool and pool bar, a quaint lobby bar and a wine tasting room.  Since I was staying on a vineyard, I had to book a wine tasting. Paolo, the Guest Relations Manager and resident wine enthusiast, leads the tastings and goes into detail about wine from different regions of Italy. I opted to try wines from the Villa Cordevigo’s own vineyard (when in Rome, right?) and didn’t regret it – don’t leave without trying the Villa Cordevigo Fiordilej, a golden wine with notes of honey, dri
The Ludlow

The Ludlow

4 out of 5 stars
Michelin recently started awarding hotels with Michelin Keys, awarding one Key to this East Village spot. Just south of busy Houston Street, The Ludlow Hotel, is a trendy spot to spend a night (or a few.)  During my stay, I was greeted by the friendly doorman and walked into the large lobby, which boasts a fireplace and plenty of spots to sit and a small bar and an outdoor terrace that is perfect for enjoying a meal, sipping on a drink or relaxing.  My room had a balcony and sweeping views of Lower Manhattan as well as a loveseat sofa, coffee table, TV, desk and king-size bed. The room was on the smaller side, which made it feel a bit cramped at times, but that’s to be expected in most New York City hotels. That being said, the large floor-to-ceiling windows next to the bed let in lots of natural light.  The location of the hotel was the real selling point for me. No matter what direction you walk in, you’ll find an iconic NYC restaurant or bar—making it pretty easy to find somewhere good to eat whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  The Ludlow Hotel is a great stay for visitors to the city who want to experience downtown Manhattan and explore areas rich in food and shopping.  Neighborhood: Right off of Houston Street, The Ludlow Hotel is near tons of shops, restaurants and bars in East Village. It’s also a short walk from Soho. Nearby: Prince Street Pizza, Rubirosa, Katz’s Delicatessen and Russ & Daughters: For iconic NYC food.  Tompkins Square Park: For a glimpse of
The Bowery Hotel

The Bowery Hotel

5 out of 5 stars
Michelin is known for awarding restaurants with stars but it recently expanded its expertise by awarding hotels with Michelin Keys. The Bowery Hotel in East Village was recently awarded one Key, ranking it as a “Very Special Stay,” and the organization was right.  Walking through the double doors of The Bowery Hotel felt like I was walking into a different period. The decor was classy and masculine—with antique couches and chairs placed throughout the large space. I was greeted by the kind bellhops and checked into my room.  The lobby was quiet and comforting—it seemed like the perfect place to get some work done or relax before venturing out for the day. Guests were scattered throughout the space reading, working or talking amongst themselves. The lobby spans four rooms, including two rooms with plenty of spots to sit, a cozy bar with stools and an outdoor terrasse. Attached to the hotel is Gemma, an Italian Trattoria with seasonal dishes, an extensive wine list and a comfortable dining room. I took the dimly lit (and old but well-maintained) elevator up to the 12th floor and walked into my room, which had breathtaking views of Manhattan and Brooklyn (I had a perfect view of the newly renovated Domino Sugar factory!) I stayed in the Bowery King room which included a large desk with drawers for clothing, a table and two chairs, a loveseat sofa, a coffee table, a king-size bed with a nightstand on each side and a bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower.  The room was incredi
Tempo by Hilton Times Square

Tempo by Hilton Times Square

4 out of 5 stars
Tempo by Hilton Times Square sits on 47th Street and 7th Avenue, just seconds away from busy Times Square—but as soon as you walk through the lobby, you’re transported to a relaxing, warm and modern space.  The doors of the hotel lead to elevators that take you up to the 11th floor, which is where the lobby, bar, restaurant and coffee shop are. After a seamless check-in, I decided to walk around the lounge area and grab a Bluestone Lane coffee from their cafe. Guests are given $10 each day to spend at the cafe, which was a nice surprise! The lounge area has giant floor-to-ceiling windows, TVs, tables, and chairs and comfortable couches to sit at.  I stayed in the King Corner room which has stunning views of Times Square, Central Park South and the Hudson River. The room has a giant window with sheer drapes and blackout curtains to keep the light from Times Square out at night (which is definitely needed considering how bright Times Square is). The room and bathroom were extremely spacious and comfortable, which can be rare at New York City hotels. There was also a large TV in the room that had access to cable and streaming services, like Netflix.  My favorite part of the hotel was Highball, its bar and restaurant. The bar is comfortable and cozy—nestled towards the back of the lounge area but its extensive drink menu with intricate cocktails caught my attention, including the Amalfi Toast—made with vodka, white cranberry juice, Aperol and orange bitters. They also offer alcoh
Kimpton Hotel Theta

Kimpton Hotel Theta

4 out of 5 stars
Having opened its doors in October 2023, Kimpton Hotel Theta offers a calm, relaxing space just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The 364-room hotel is located on 8th Avenue and is walking distance from the Theater District, Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen and Central Park South—making it the perfect launch point for exploring all of midtown. Only a nine-minute walk from Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center, it’s a great place to stay if you’re visiting during the holiday season.  From the moment I walked through the doors into the warmly lit lobby, I felt relaxed. Kimpton Hotel Theta’s lobby was filled with comfortable furniture, beautiful decor, lush plants and curtains that keep you separated from the business of 8th Avenue. The design is inspired by the Theta brainwaves that are most present in moments of meditation, which was clear upon entering.  The lobby includes a marketplace with snacks, drinks and hotel merchandise—like comfortable robes and reusable bottles, as well as a coffee window that serves freshly brewed coffee and breakfast pastries. It also has a gym with weights and Peloton bikes, as well as bikes you can rent and use to explore the city. Every evening, from 5pm to 6pm, the hotel offers a complimentary wine hour where guests can enjoy a glass before catching a Broadway show or grabbing dinner, which is exactly what I did before heading to John’s of Times Square.   When walking into my room, the first thing I noticed was the size.
