Cape Town, get ready for some serious mixed martial arts heat. Former UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis, Knox Hydrate founders Ethan Hughes, and EFC president Cairo Howarth joined Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis on Monday to officially announce the MMA Knox Legacy Series - set to take place in February 2026.

Du Plessis described the upcoming debut event as a means to show the world - including the UFC - that South Africa, and Cape Town in particular, has what it takes to host major MMA showcases.

The series will give Cape Town’s homegrown mixed martial arts talent, including “Troublemaker” Faeez Jacobs, a prime stage to showcase their grit and passion behind the popular global sport.

Fight night is locked in for 26 February 2026 at the GrandWest Grand Arena, marking the first event in what is slated to become a recurring series, as the official kick-off to the EFC’s 2026 season.
