They’ve played with Dolly Parton on the stages of Nashville, and sold out shows off-Broadway in New York, but this summer the proud – and loud! – South African drumming show Drumstruck sets up home in Cape Town.

It’s the second year running that Drumstruck will perform in Cape Town, after a successful 2022 season. This year they return to the Silvermist Organic Wine Estate in the Constantia Winelands, with an interactive show that combines some of South Africa’s most talented percussionists with enthusiastic audience participation.

Drumstruck promises to take audiences on a journey through the musical heritage of Southern Africa, and with a drum on every seat each audience member gets to play and sing along with the show.

'The show harnesses the transformative and unifying power of drumming together and breaks down barriers between people,' explains the show’s producer and co-creator, Warren Lieberman.

And audience members are often in the mood to make some noise, thanks to a tutored tasting of Constantia wines before the show kicks off in a curated theatre-style space in the scenic venue overlooking the Constantia vineyards. Children (and those who prefer) have the option of tasting a range of delicious farm-brewed iced teas.

For the 2023-24 season, the Drumstruck experience has been extended to include an optional braai (barbecue) after the show, with dinner enjoyed to the tunes of an accompanying marimba band. The braai experience must be pre-booked with your ticket purchase.

The Silvermist Rocketbar has also been re-opened as an intimate African-themed wine and coffee bar, serving deli sandwiches and snacks before the show.
