Entries for The Taste Master SA Professionals Season 1 officially close at midnight on Monday, 6 April, marking the final opportunity for trained chefs across the country to enter the next evolution of the SAFTA award-winning culinary competition.

Returning with a new season on SABC2, the series is shifting its focus exclusively to professionals working in the food industry. And this time, the prize goes far beyond national exposure.

The winner launches the first Taste Master restaurant deli, to be located in Cape Winelands town of Paarl, giving them a platform to bring their talent into a real-world restaurant environment.

The series has previously helped launch the careers of chefs such as Lucky Masinya, whose remarkable journey of resilience and talent saw him rise from living under a bridge, to building the career he has today.

“South Africa is home to an incredible depth of culinary talent, but many chefs don’t always have access to a platform that truly showcases their skill and point of view," states Executive Producer Bradley van den Berg.

"The Taste Master SA Professionals is about finding those individuals and giving them the opportunity to step into the spotlight. We’re looking for chefs and culinary experts who are ready to push boundaries and take their careers to the next level. With only a few days left to enter, this is the moment to take that step.”
