This year the 2024 Maynardville Open Air Festival takes place from January 18 - February 25, presenting a programme packed with memorable music and enchanting theatre.
The Festival takes place on the beautiful open-air stage amid gardens and forests in Wynberg’s Maynardville Park. This year’s Festival has a remarkable roster of performances in store, kicking off with a series of classical and orchestral evenings to bookend the highlight of the Festival: the annual Shakespeare theatre production.
Shakespeare on the Maynardville stage is a much-loved Cape Town tradition, dating back to 1956 when ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ took to the stage. This year it is the turn of the classic love story ‘Rome & Juliet’, with a month-long run set to enthral visitors.
The popular Evening Food Market also returns in 2024, with an array of vendors offering everything from pizza to poke bowls and burgers, but you’re also welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy in the park before the show. However, all alcohol must be bought at the Festival bar.
Prices for all events range between R190 and R320 with concessions available for pensioners, students and families.
