Travellers hooking Cape Town into a southern Africa itinerary, and locals looking to explore north of the border are in luck: Airlink will launch direct flights from Cape Town to Gaborone in early-2025.
The capital of Botswana is a key destination for business travel in the region – diamonds are forever, right? – but is also a useful entry point for self-drive travel north to the Makgadikgadi and Okavango Delta.
The new service will launch on April 1, 2025 (no jokes!) and will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights depart Cape Town International Airport at 10.50 am and arrive at Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 1 pm. The return service leaves Gaborone at 1.45 pm and lands in Cape Town at 4 pm.
‘Alongside Cape Town’s economic expansion, we are seeing rising demand for travel between the two cities and Airlink is ideally placed to connect them with a convenient direct service,’ said Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster.
‘It also enables customers travelling via Cape Town on our various international partner airlines to seamlessly connect onwards to Gaborone on a single ticket and vice versa for customers travelling from Gaborone.’
Airlink will fly the route with its modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jets. Fares will include a 20kg free Economy Class checked-in luggage allowance, plus a 15kg sporting equipment allowance.
