The Art of Light will transform the Norval Foundation's sculpture garden into an illuminated outdoor gallery for 10 nights.

Cape Town, prepare to see art in a whole new light. After lighting up the Company's Garden earlier this year, LUMENOCITY is back with another illuminating experience. This time, the creative team is heading south to the Norval Foundation in Tokai, where The Art of Light will run from 20 to 29 November 2026.
And if you caught the spectacular installations at the Company's Garden last year, you'll know this is one worth putting in the diary.

Set against the backdrop of the Steenberg mountains, the Norval Foundation is already a favourite for its contemporary art exhibitions, sculpture garden and beautiful setting. Come November, light art installations by South African artists will become the main attraction.

A handful of South African artists have already been selected for the Norval Foundation exhibition, although the final line-up has yet to be announced. Previous LUMENOCITY installations have included Alan Bradburn’s Alt Ring Portal, a striking circle of light suspended over water; Thingking’s Mobius; Magpie Art Collective’s Hanging Gardens; and Halo Chamber by SLED & Pixel Nation.
Visitors can expect an outdoor trail of illuminated artworks to explore at their own pace, with the experience taking around 60 to 90 minutes. Food trucks and a licensed bar will be on site, so come hungry and make an evening of it.
And there's more on the horizon. LUMENOCITY has also announced plans to return to the Company's Garden from 1 to 4 April 2027, with a Johannesburg edition scheduled for September next year.
For now, though, it's all eyes on Tokai.
