A guide to the best things to do and places to go in Cape Town this weekend, from Friday, 6 to Sunday, 8 November 2026.

It’s been a week. From taxi strikes to standing in long voting lines, we need something to lift our spirits. Luckily, this weekend has a little something-something for everyone.
Friday kicks off with the 24th Nelson Mandela Lecture, hosted at the CTICC. This year’s guest speaker is Colombia’s former president and 2016 Nobel Peace Laureate Juan Manuel Santos. In the current geopolitical climate, it’ll be interesting to hear his take on current affairs.
Also on Friday, the DSK Bazaar will light up the German International School with all sorts of German-inspired shenanigans.

When last did you have a good laugh? I mean, tears in your eyes, tummy ache, cackle? Steenberg Comedy Night will deliver the goods, while you bring your poker face. Easing into Sunday, Platō Coffee in Wynberg is hosting its first dog walk at Maynardville Park. Yes, fur babies are mandatory.
That’s it, folks. Don’t forget to tip your waiter, give the help the weekend off, and stop eating the kids’ school snacks.
Exploring the theme of “When is silence complicity?”, this year’s Nelson Mandela Lecture is delivered by President Juan Manuel Santos, former President of Colombia, 2016 Nobel Peace Laureate and Chair of The Elders. Santos invites guests to reflect on the boundaries between non-interference and moral responsibility during times of conflict, authoritarianism, human rights violations and growing geopolitical instability.
The German International School Cape Town (DSK) in Tamboerskloof is synonymous with its annual DSK Bazaar. Every November, the school grounds transform into a festive playground, complete with fun kiddie activities, live music and authentic German food and beer. Halaal and vegetarian-friendly options are also available.
Who’s up for an all-female cast of DJs? That’s what I said; I mean, that’s what she said. The Electronic music event features a 3D-mapped stage, psychedelic decor, and high-energy dancefloor grooves. How’s that for girl power?
Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved musical Into the Woods takes classic fairy tales and reinvents them as a magical, thought-provoking musical adventure. Please note: no under-12s allowed.
Join The Lawns and STRUNG for a morning of creativity and connection. Yes, the ticket is a bit much, but they’ll throw in a delicious brunch, a curated bread-making experience, and a hand-strung piece to take home. Tickets are limited, so get in there.
What do Yaseen Barnes, Dalin Oliver, and KG Mokgadi have in common? They’re all award-winning comedians. Also, they’re performing at Steenberg Comedy Night. Bring your friends and prepare to ugly-laugh at their sharp wit, dry humour and sarcastic one-liners. If you get picked on, don’t take it personally. Just cover your face before the embarrassment reaches your cheeks.
Now you have no excuse not to take Milton for Sunday walkies. While you’re out, pop in Plato Coffee’s new Wynberg Chelsea store, grab a coffee and join other fur parents for a walk at Maynardville Park.
Yes, it’s a Saturday morning. Yes, it’s at the break of dawn. But the Delft community needs to feel all the feels following a week of taxi violence. Bring along your friends, neighbours and family. Rock up in numbers and show your support.
The Khayelitsha Maskandi Festival returns with “Maskandi & Friends.” The annual cultural event celebrates traditional Maskandi music, fashion, and heritage. This year’s headliners include Khuzani, Limit Nala, Shwi noMtekhala, Menzi, Sjava, Mlindo, Nkeshemba, and Saliwa.
Time Out tip: Maskandi, the popular traditional South African music genre rooted in Zulu culture, is also referred to as the “Zulu Blues”.
Do you know what’s also from the 2000s? Those ticket prices. Where can you find a jol for less than R200? Plus, you get to party to club bangers with fond memories, or be reminded of your questionable choices when Robin S’s “Show Me Love” blasts through the speakers.

Figures Model Finesse International celebrates 40 years, and they’d like you to join them for an exciting runway experience featuring talented models, spectacular fashion, creative couture designs and a celebration of style through the decades.
I had no idea the Allure Sensuality Emporium existed, and now I’m excited. The Guided Sapphic Writing Experience & Connection Circle is a writing workshop for anyone willing to feel and come alive through their own words. No, you don’t have to be a writer to attend; that’s the point. Anyone who identifies with the sapphic experience, attraction or community is invited to join.
InMotion Dance Studio presents Into Wonderland, a dance production that’s nothing as it seems; the deeper down the rabbit hole. From enchanted tea parties to curious characters, the family-friendly show will keep the little ones engrossed.
Love cats? Then you won’t want to miss this adorable musical with a cat as the central character. Yes, you read right. A kittie discovers a bag full of instruments. The result is a playful, interactive exploration of sound through storytelling and audience participation.
