More than 40k fans are expected to attend this weekend's opening match of the year.

The rugby heavyweights' match between the Stormers and Bulls is happening at the DHL Stadium this Saturday, marking the first major United Rugby Championship (URC) kick-off of 2026.
This means Green Point is about to be very busy. With more than 40,000 fans expected, plus the usual Waterfront bustle doing its thing, getting in and out of the stadium precinct will be tricky. The good news is that the City has arranged shuttles, parking options, and a few workarounds to help you avoid congestion.

Stadium gates open at 15:00, with kick-off set for 18:00. Expect big crowds, loud gees and a packed Green Point precinct from early afternoon.
As always with major stadium events, the simplest advice stands: if you can, leave the car at home. Or at least park in the CBD and let public transport do the hard work.
There's a free MyCiTi shuttle service for ticket holders, running between the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) straight to the stadium. The shuttle starts operating at 14:30, and the last buses will leave the stadium and Green Point precinct at 22:00.
At the CTICC, shuttles depart from the City Sightseeing bus stop near Entrance 3 on Walter Sisulu Avenue. About 1,000 paid parking bays are available at the CTICC, with parking opening at 14:00. Online booking is available if you want to lock in a spot and skip the stress.
Standard MyCiTi routes operate as usual, so the easiest option is to ride into the CBD and connect to the event shuttle from there.
If you're driving into the city centre, the City of Cape Town will open designated parking areas for ticket holders from 14:00. These bays, accessed via incoming Hertzog Boulevard and Civic Road, are available on a first-come, first-served basis and close at 22:30.
Paid parking is also available at:
Good news for late planners: off-street parking in the CBD is free from 13:00 on Saturdays.
Residents and motorists should expect disruptions in and around the stadium precinct. The following roads will be impacted from 06:00 until after the game:
If Green Point is on your route, allow extra travel time or, better yet, reroute entirely.
