AGC 2026 promises four days of entertainment, community and unforgettable competition.

The African Gaming Championship (AGC) returns to Cape Town from Thursday, 16 to Sunday, 19 July, bringing four days of elite eSports competition to GrandWest.
Hosted by the African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL), AGC 2026 has become one of the continent’s premier competitive gaming events, attracting top players to battle for a share of an R150,000 prize pool.
If you’ve ever claimed you “could’ve gone pro”, this is where the professionals come to prove it.
Expect fierce competition across some of the world’s biggest titles, including Valorant, Fortnite, EA FC 26, Tekken 8, Free Fire and Brawlhalla.
Every match is a test of strategy, teamwork and split-second decision-making. Blink at the wrong moment, and you’ll miss the winning play, or the spectacular own goal. This time, you can’t blame “lag”.

Africa is making sure it isn’t left watching from the sidelines.
This year’s championship also shines a spotlight on the next generation of players through the Nitro African Schools League Finals. School teams from across South Africa compete on one of the country’s biggest eSports stages.

Beyond the tournaments, visitors can expect free-play gaming zones, community activities, cosplay, content creators, exhibitors and plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow gamers.
Whether you’re chasing a championship trophy or looking for people who understand why saying “one more game” never means one more game, there’s something for everyone.
Cape Town has become one of Africa’s leading gaming hubs, hosting everything from major LAN tournaments to developer showcases and gaming festivals.
Events like AGC continue to strengthen that reputation while creating opportunities for local talent to compete against the continent’s best without boarding an international flight.

It is also rewriting outdated stereotypes. Today’s top competitors train for hours, analyse gameplay, communicate constantly with teammates and perform under immense pressure.
The reactions are faster than your Wi-Fi reconnecting after load shedding, and that’s saying something.

Controllers are charged. Keyboards are glowing. The only question left is: who will earn the ultimate victory scream when the final match is over?
