The Tintswalo Collection, celebrated for its exceptional luxury hospitality experiences and accommodation, will open its newest property, the Tintswalo Summer House, this April.

Located in the seaside village of Glencairn, Tintswalo Summer House has taken residence at what was once the iconic Glencairn Southern Right Hotel. Established in 1904, the Glencairn Southern Right Hotel earned a reputation for coastal elegance, with dignitaries and notable public figures using it as a meeting point.

Following several years of renovation, restoration and design, one which honours the building's existing heritage, the Tintswalo Summer House pays homage to what once was while embracing contemporary sophistication.

Distinctive design and signature hospitality

The hotel, which catches the eye upon first glance, is donned in Tintswalo's signature pink.

Standing out from its surroundings of seaside appeal, rugged mountains and seaside blues, the hotel retains Tintswalo Collection's distinctive offering, with 12 individually styled suites designed around its own colour theme.

Leading the interior design charge for the newly established hotel, Head of Tintswalo Interiors, Camlyn Johnston, the daughter of Tintswalo CEO Lisa Goosen, has curated each room meticulously to feature a unique look and feel.

With a strong attention to detail, even the light fixtures of each suite have been selected to reiterate the bedroom's theme, perfectly pairing to create a room that is both luxurious and whimsical yet refined.

This applies to the size of each room, as restoration and honouring the existing structure were integral to the design process. Each suite name provides a hint into the interior theme's look and feel, from bright yellows in a suite aptly titled Citron to calming hues of blue in a Bit of Blue.

With four room categories, each offers a different backdrop, from sea views to views of the poolside deck. The hotel features a pool and sundeck, along with ample seating for lounging on warmer days.

Breakfast and high tea are served within the sunny breakfast room, adjacent to the pool area.

A curated dining and drinking experience

The on-site restaurant, the Summer House Eatery, offers sweeping views of the adjacent beach with a menu that celebrates local Cape flavours with a Mediterranean influence.

Central to the menu ethos is a blend of open-fire cooking and coastal-inspired cuisine. Dishes include steaks, prawns, honey-roasted carrots, aubergine and more.

With a menu tailored for communal dining, central to the preparation ethos is open-fire cooking alongside coastal-inspired cuisine. Dishes on the menu include steaks, prawns, honey roasted carrots, aubergine and more.

A range of bespoke quality house wines produced for the hotel by Lomond Wine Estate is available and has been crafted to suit each dish on the menu.

Next to the restaurant, the Sports Bar offers a laid-back setting with an antique fireplace, ample seating that opens into the terrace with pristine sea views. The Sports Bar serves up classic fish and chips, pressed beef burgers and a signature prawn roll.

Both the Summer House Eatery and the Sports Bar are fully open to the public and are currently operational.

Additionally, the hotel features the quirky Tini Martini Bar, a space curated to serve up a stellar Martini alongside other drinks.
