Buitenverwachting on the slopes of Constantiaberg is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms, dating from the 1700s.
They are known for their full-bodied rich Buitenverwachting Chardonnay with tones of citrus and flintstone on the nose; it pairs well with pork, salmon or tuna, poultry and vegetarian dishes.
Winemaker Brad Paton who has been at Buitenverwachting for more than 20 years says their chardonnay has become “an ever more popular wine in (their) portfolio” and it “has been known to convert even the ‘anti-chardonnay’ consumers, to start drinking this varietal”.
As far as awards go, he happily proclaims that “our chardonnay is a reward on its own, which is proving to be problematic at times, as it sells out too quickly!”
At Buitenverwachting Estate you will also find a lifestyle gift shop, a cosy café and the Beyond Restaurant.
