Join us for a very special Artistry of Geology Homeschool Day featuring on Monday, May 8th, 2017, featuring ZimSculpt, our visiting Zimbabwean stone sculpture exhibit.

Reserve your student's spot in our Dallas-Arboretum-educator-led classroom learning experience to discover the fascinating world of geology. After your program, explore the role of geology in the inspiring rock sculptures of the Zimbabwean artists of ZimSculpt.

Programs will be held inside our classrooms at the Visitor Education Pavilion in the Main Garden (Gate 1). Parents are welcome to observe classes and participate with students. After the program, explore the rest of our Main Garden and Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, included with your reservation. Check in for all classes will be from 9:30-10:45am.

Scoop on Soil
K - 2nd (4-8 years)
10:00-10:50am or 11:00-11:50am

Introduce your students to the world of geology as they explore the uses of rocks and discover how soils are formed. Students will participate in hands-on discovery to investigate rock characteristics, soil characteristics, and weathering.

Rock and Roll
3rd-6th (8-12 years)
10:00-10:50am or 11:00-11:50am

Students will model how rocks are formed and investigate the properties of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Students will also explore the many uses of rocks in our everyday lives.
