Southern belle, Regina Giddens, and her brothers scheme to outwit Regina's husband Horace, who opposes their attempts to profit from a cotton factory in partnership with a Chicago businessman, in Lillian Hellman's look at the power of money to destroy lives.

NOTE: the roles of Regina and Birdie have been cast.

ADDIE - (Female 30-60 African American) - Addie is a servant in the Giddens household. She has seen it all but could say very little until now. She wants justice and change

CAL – (Male any age African American). Gentle but smart. Good comedic timing is a plus. A servant in the Giddens’ house.

ALEXANDRA GIDDENS - ( Female, late teens/early 20's, Caucasian) daughter of Regina and Horace. Pretty, possesses grace, protective of father, confident and spirited nature.

BEN HUBBARD - (Male Early-Mid 50′s Caucasian)- The oldest Hubbard sibling and the boss. Ben is a tall, solid man who is graceful in his movements.

OSCAR HUBBARD - (Male Mid-Late 40′s Caucasian)- The second son in the Hubbard family. Oscar is very much under the thumb of his older brother, and a much less skillful competitor.

LEO HUBBARD - (Male 20's Caucasian) - Weak, unprincipled, foolish, a pawn in the family plot. Works at the bank his uncle manages. Speaks before he thinks.

HORACE GIDDENS - (Male, 50's Caucasian) - ailing husband of Regina. Very sickly with heart trouble. Good, honest man surrounded by and beset by his greedy relatives. Still in control though ill. In a loveless marriage.

WILLIAM MARSHALL - (Male, Late 40s-50s. Caucasian) - Investment banker from Chicago. Congenial and wise businessman.
