Join us at St. Rita's for our April speaker event, featuring John Gates, CEO, Markets - Jones Lang LaSalle.

As CEO, Markets, John Gates oversees the firm’s Brokerage, Capital Markets, Project and Development Services, Property Management and Retail businesses in the United States.

John began his career at The Staubach Company in 1990. He was consistently recognized as a top-producing broker at The Staubach Company and was often recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the top five office brokers in the Metroplex. He was also honored as the Rising Leader for 2007 in the Annual Executive of the Year Awards by Commercial Property News.

John earned a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor of Science in Economics/Finance from Trinity University. In 2009, John was appointed by the Mayor of Dallas to serve as a member of the Dallas Housing Authority’s board. He also serves on the Dallas Citizens Council. In addition to numerous other civic commitments, John is a member of the Executive Council for the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the University of Texas at Austin and the Urban Land Institute.

John is married to Jennifer Staubach Gates, a Dallas City Councilwoman. He has two daughters: Jessica (married to son-in-law Will Whitsitt) and Jordan, who is currently a senior at UT Austin. He is the proud grandfather to 18-month-old Gambill Whitsitt (who calls John “Pops”) and is excited about the newest grandson, who is scheduled to arrive this July. John’s hobbies include golf, jogging, and ranching (he raises Longhorn cattle). He attends St. Rita.
