GEOMETRIC REPETITION – Opening reception will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

GEOMETRIC REPETITION offers multiple views taken from the minds of five painters and sculptors highlighting their interpretation of geometry and abstraction. New works will be featured by gallery artists: Elizabeth Barnes, Amy Cheng, Charles Coldewey, Kenn Kotara and Ricardo Paniagua.

MARY TOMÁS GALLERY is thrilled to exhibit the work of Elizabeth Barnes, British Columbia, for the first time in Dallas. Barnes’ modern painting style investigates the nature of perception and human consciousness by means of repetition in a formal abstract modality. Utilizing the energy of color she creates an interconnection with the viewer. Amy Cheng, New York, creates sumptuous, intricate, ornamented and richly referential paintings that call to mind mandalas, cells, lace and more. Patterns that are endemic in nature and symmetrical in iconic composition. Charles Coldewey, Texas, works are a collaboration of bizarreness and empathy. Coldewey operates on many levels-artist, designer, carpenter, painter, sculptor. His ongoing Holes series embodies the concepts of something and nothingness with a minimalist approach. Kenn Kotara, North Carolina, explores mathematics and cosmology while capturing and organizing bits of abstract information in a grid like pattern to investigate the world around him. Kotara’s paintings, braille works and hanging screen sculptures initiate the human response to formal and informal pattern. We are excited to include the dynamic works of Ricardo Paniagua, Texas, who works in themes ranging from pure abstraction to exquisitely precise geometric design. Paniagua’s detailed, contemporary, black and white tondi paintings and sculpture show a level of mastery and intensity displayed through his eye for detail and experimental dialogue.

GEOMETRIC REPETITION exhibition runs through Saturday, June 20, 2015.

MARY TOMÁS GALLERY is located in the Dallas Design District at . Gallery hours: M-F 10-5. SAT 12-4 and by appointment."
