Do you know about the Tignon Law of 1786 that took place in New Orleans, Louisiana?

It was a law forcing all women of African descendant to wear a head scarf in order to oppress their beauty and mobility.

Heart of the Headwrap is a workshop series educating the Dallas community about the American history behind the headwrap as it relates to the Tignon Law of 1786 in Louisiana. In addition, each participant will be gifted a unique headwrap while learning styling techniques that embody characteristics that were meant to be oppress:
Our beauty, Our intelligence, & Our adaptability.

Workshops are free and open to the public by registration only.
