Holy Liver! Asana Detox Workshop
A workshop to support the physical & energetic body’s transition into Spring
Your liver, the largest organ in your body, is shaped like a football and located underneath the right side of your rib cage. This amazing gland detoxifies impurities, synthesizes proteins, and produces the biochemicals necessary for digestion. It also serves to filter the blood.
Late Winter and early Spring are the best times to nourish & revitalize our livers - supporting the body’s natural processes as our bodies start to release fats (that the body stores for the winter season) into the blood stream forcing our livers to work even harder to filter and keep our blood “clean”.
In this workshop, we use yoga asana and pranayama practices to support the flushing of the liver and gallbladder. Deep breathing and twisting actions massage the liver and help to maintain it’s function & well-being. We’ll also discuss foods that are especially well-suited to strengthening & supporting the functions of the liver, and some signs that our liver might be in need of some TLC.
Jyl Kutsche believes in bringing an interdisciplinary approach to her teaching, combining technique & flow with a strong emphasis on anatomical alignment while deepening your awareness of sensation in each pose. She has practiced yoga since 1990, and has been teaching since 2006.
