International Women's Day Celebration: Make It Happen
Advertising
Time Out says
Come and celebrate with us! Open to everyone:
We will share our stories in pláticas or conversation circles, have an interactive look at the economic situation for women, and think about how we can build up to a larger women's day event (week?) in 2016. Let's get together and #MakeItHappen!
Some reason's to explore with us why it is so important to celebrate women and contemplate the change we want to see happen for a more equal society:
- Sixty-six percent of the world’s work falls on women’s shoulders, yet they earn only 10% of the world’s income;
- If women were given the same level of access to resources that men have, they could increase yields on their farms by 20-30%;
-Hunger and poverty are about power and inequality, and women and girls face the biggest inequalities of all.
(Stats from Oxfam International)
This event is hosted by women of the Dallas AFL-CIO and its various affiliates as well as members of Jobs with Justice.
