#Investigate Dpd Now! Speak Out At Dallas City Council

Dallas Communities Organizing For Change says
On April 8, 2015, we call on the Dallas City Council to end their silence on the Dallas Police Department's disproportionate use of deadly force against communities of color.

For months, supporters from all across the North Texas region have supported the call for a Department of Justice investigation into DPD, but the Dallas City Council and Mayor Mike Rawlings refuse to address the public's outcry for justice.

We must put an end to respectability politics and the culture of accommodation that allows the police to continue killing without accountability. We know through research that over the last ten years, 42 unarmed people have been involved in a shooting with DPD, and that 13 of those individuals were killed. Yet, there have been ZERO indictments.

Join us as we confront the Dallas City Council with the Department of Justice complaint and request that public hearings be scheduled on the following issues:

1. Strengthening the Dallas Citizen's Police Review Board

2. Repeal Dallas PD's 72 Hour Review Policy

3. Reform the Internal Affairs citizen complaint and investigation procedures

4. Ensure that Dallas Police body cameras stay on and ensure officers do not have discretion in turning them off

5. Develop a new policy that keeps officers involved in a shooting off patrol until all criminal proceedings are completed

WEAR BLACK: If you are going to speak before the council, please call (214) 670-3738 to sign up on April 2nd.

If you haven't signed the petition asking that Eddie Bernice Johnson support of a federal investigation, please do so here:
