The event creator says
June 3, 2016 INVITATION at LEVEL Gallery 2722 Logan St Dallas, TX an evening with musicians Sarah Ruth and Lily Taylor. 7pm. TICKETS: $8

Most music shows in Dallas, TX are presented in loud bar venues. As musicians and artists living and working in DFW, Sarah Ruth Alexander and Lily Taylor would like to invite you into their sonic world to view part of their process, what inspires them, and how they hear the world around themselves. Ruth and Taylor will present works derived from their life experiences, and fully utilize the space at Level Gallery which exhibits contemporary socially and politically engaged work, and strives to poetically facilitate visual and conceptual conversations about themes of identity and power. The gallery is founded by Brandy Adams and Emma Saperstein.

Alexander and Taylor both have extensive back grounds in the study of music and exploring sound as art. Alexander graduated from University of North Texas with a focus in vocal studies and electroacoustic composition. She has also studied with Meredith Monk and members of her vocal ensemble. Taylor graduated from College of Santa Fe with a focus in vocal studies and performance and composition of Contemporary Music where she attended vocal master classes with Joan LaBarbara. Both Alexander and Taylor collaborate with a wide variety of other acts: Alexander with They Say the Wind Made Them Crazy, Cerulean Giallo, and Violent Squid. She is also a frequent collaborator with Unconscious Collective, Problem Dogg, Baby Blood, and various improvisational ensembles such as Amendable a group where Alexander and Taylor work together with percussionists Beth Dodds and Sam Friedland. Taylor also collaborates with projects such as Locations, Ulnae, XIOIX, Baby Blood, and Karina Denike. Sarah Ruth's solo album, "Words on the Wind" was released April 2015 on Pour le Corps Records. Lily Taylor's solo album "The Ride" was also released on Pour le Corps Records, in February of 2015.

They invite you to Level Gallery on June 3, 2016 at 7pm to listen to new works, collaborative pieces, exploration of tonality, nostalgic installations, stories, and acclaimed compositions. Please join.
