About the Glacier Project:

The Glacier Project is a conceptual art project about transformation on a grand scale. It also highlights cultural synthesis through the use of old records, the covers of which were screen printed with Islamic tessellations. This fusion of graphic and geometric designs can be presented in many formats, including completely covering gallery walls, “icebergs” (small grouping of records which I consider paintings), and sculptural installations. The Glacier Project has an interactive component, meaning the records are supposed to be removed during the length of the installation, which facilitates the melting of the Glacier.

The work tends to exist only for the length of the exhibition, and uses this ephemeral quality to emphasize the importance of actually seeing the work. However, a good deal of the records are documented so many of the 2D presentations can be recreated digitally. And yes, the records are in the covers. However, they are no longer audio recording...they have been transformed into works of art
