During the 2015 Lev Aronson Legacy Festival, top student cellists from around the country learn in the Lev Aronson tradition from world-renown artists during the day and public concerts featuring these accomplished cellists are performed every evening June 6-10th at O’Donnell Hall at SMU.

Saturday, June 6th 7pm - Opening Gala Concert “Homage to Pablo Casals” featuring Amit Peled, accompanied by pianist, Spencer Myer - Keynote speech by Dr. Melissa Kraut and concert features music by Handel, Bach, Beethoven, Fauré, and Saint-Saens. A very special re-creation of the recital given by Casals on his 1915 US tour – same program, same cello – one hundred years later!

Sunday, June 7th, 7pm – (update 6/3) On the advice of his doctor, Chris Atkins will not be able to perform his recital. The evening will instead showcase Lev Aronson Legacy cellists including Brian Thornton, Melissa Kraut, and participants of the festival. Plus a presentation on the music of Lev Aronson will be given by renowned musicologist Dr. Sonia Archer-Capuzzo. Admission is FREE.

Monday, June 8th, 7pm – Tom Landschoot Recital – Concert features music by Beethoven, Bruch and Franck

Tuesday, June 9th, 7pm – Brian Thornton Recital along with violinist Emanuel Borok and pianist Spencer Myer - Performing music by Brahms, Piatti and Herbert

Wednesday, June 10th, 6pm reception and 7pm concert featuring Open Classical “Just Add Cello” - Featuring collaborations between Lev Aronson Festival cellists and local DFW vocalists, composers and dancers.
