REASON & PURPOSE
A Candlelight Vigil honoring Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha and Razan Abu-Salha who were murdered Feb. 10, Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Deah Barakat, 23, was a second-year student at the University of North Carolina’s School of Dentistry. Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, was set to enroll there in the fall. Deah & Yusor recently married in December. They were both alumni of North Carolina State University. Razan Abu-Salha, 19, sister of Yusor, was a sophomore student at nearby North Carolina State University in Raleigh was studying architecture and environmental design.
While Chapel Hill police described the killing as a dispute about parking, the father of the women, Dr. Mohammad Abu-Salha, described it as a hate crime.

We must come together to stand in solidarity with the families of the victim specifically, and to stand against religious violence and hate crimes in general.

Deah & Yusor were both students preparing for a future in the field of Dentistry. We ask attendees who are currently students at a School of Dentistry or Medicine, or are health professionals, to please wear your 'Scrubs' as a sign of solidarity.

Razan was known for her creative spirit and artistic style. She loved artistry, photography. She had a keen eye for beautiful angles. So we will honor her by creating beautiful images & messages of 'Love,' 'Hope,' 'Support' along the sidewalk.
Bring CANDLES
Please attempt to bring red, white, and black candles to show solidarity with the school colors of their alma mater, North Carolina State University. ***Some candles will be provided by organizers.

We will be collecting Cards to send to the Barakat & Abu-Salha families.

Parking is conveniently located adjacent to the Six Floor Museum; the cost is $5 daily. There are is meter parking on Houston St., Main St.
Public transportation includes DART light rail and the Trinity Railway Express. Rail services from Union Station and the West End Station (light rail only) are a short walk.
