How our Evolving Understanding of Rights Impacts the Abortion Debate Today

Dr. Francis Beckwith
Professor of Philosophy and Church-State Studies at Baylor. He has written extensively on law, ethics, religion, and culture and is the author of Defending Life: A Moral and Legal Case Against Abortion Choice. Dr. Beckwith will be speaking about rights in American law and culture.

Dr. James Kang Hoon Lee
Assistant Professor of the History of Early Christianity at SMU. Dr. Lee’s teaching specialties include Church history, early Christianity, and patristic anthropology, and he is the faculty advisor for Mustangs for Life. Dr. Lee will be speaking about the origin and development of the concept of rights.

F. Cartwright Weiland
Policy Analyst at Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute, a public policy think thank in Austin. He has a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he studied under former U.S. Ambassador Mary Ann Glendon. Mr. Weiland will be speaking on the legal application of our understanding of rights.
