System Change Not Climate Change - Dallas Chapter says
Join System Change Not Climate Change and McCarty & Maathai Community Garden in celebrating black community and healthy living in South Dallas, in the name of legendary bicyclist, Marshall "Major" Taylor, the 1899 1-mile race world champion.

There will be a short bike ride in South Dallas on October 17, 2015. Meet outside the Paul Laurence Dunbar Library at 10:30am for registration and a brief tour of the library. There will also be a community event with refreshments, information booths from community stakeholders and presentations about biking and other topics at the McCarty-Mathaai Community Garden, 2331 Custer Rd, where the ride ends.

A pre-ride movie showing and fellowship event will take place the evening before, on October 16, 2015. The movie showing and fellowship will start at 7:00 pm and go until 9:00 pm. The location is still to be announced.

We are also submitting a resolution to Dallas city council to adopt October 17th as Marshall Taylor Day, so that this event can become embedded as an annual part of Dallas' cultural life.

The community garden is walking distance from Paul Laurence Library (1.5 miles) --- those who cannot or choose not to ride a bike are still invited to join us!

ALL ARE WELCOME ~ Please join us, and invite your family and friends!

This ride is organized in partnership with the Major Taylor Association -

Please register online if you plan to ride. The registration is free and may be done here:
