War Party
Since 2011, the retro-minded, punk-leaning lot have used a mix of skuzzy guitars, horns and a dirty organ to wage a two-front war on the music world: on the road, where they’ve spent relentlessly hitting both coasts with like-minded acts like Dallas’ Sealion, and at home, where War Party has been named “Best Punk Band” by the Fort Worth Weekly, and where members of the band have helped foster Fort Worth’s emerging DIY scene through the Lo-Life Recordings label they founded and the Dreamy Life Records brick-and-mortar shop they help run.

Nervous Curtains
Dallas, TX post-punk synth rock trio Nervous Curtains formed in 2008. The band toured the US heavily behind 2012’s Fake Infinity, playing hundreds of shows, large and small but has kept a relatively low public profile since early 2014 while recording and producing its new material. Nervous Curtains’ third album, Con, (due out in October 2015) finds the trio at their most raw and urgently aggressive. Sonically, the album explores the rhythmic tension between pulsing electronics and live drums while merging these elements into a blast of punk-infused energy.

GHOST BONES
They played coiled and neurotic mutant-disco, punk rock unafraid to incorporate the notion of rhythm. They were great. They remind me of Pylon, who is nice to be reminded of, and they sing songs about "diving to the bottom of the ocean." I'll give judge Mitchell Crisp the last word, because she's earned it: "This band is for throwing TVs out of three-story windows, sleeping under dirty sheets in a room lit by Christmas lights, drunk on cheap wine with a boy you just met but have seen around for a long time." - Arkansas Times
