All proceeds raised will go toward the Latinas in Progress scholarship fund for Latinas in high school who plan to pursue a college degree! Make a difference in a young Latina's life! Wine Down for a CAUSE will feature: - Guest Speaker Daniel Cruz from Education is Freedom, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive college planning services and producing life changing results for students and families - Sangria Demo - Tasty Tapas - Live Music - A Raffle for fabulous prizes, including a gift certificate to Café Madrid, a Mary Kay make-over party, and a basket of wine and wine glasses! ***BONUS*** The first 50 members to register for the event will leave with a FREE bottle of wine, compliments of Café Madrid! One bottle will be valued at $70 or more! The Latinas In Progress© Education Seminar Series are free seminars designed to encourage Latina High School students to stay in school and continue on to college. In addition to providing students with college and financial aid information, the seminars build leadership skills, self-esteem and cultural awareness. The students are exposed to positive role models and insight into various careers through career panels composed of HWNT members and student panels composed of Latina students attending local colleges and universities. On Nov. 20, 1987, the first gathering of the charter members of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas took place in Dallas. In 1989, the Dallas Chapter introduced the Education Seminar Series for high school Latinas, later adopted at the State level as Latinas in Progress©.
