Sankofa Lecture Series says
Hip Hop: A Soundtrack for Social Change is the theme of the 2015 Sankofa Lecture Series, the only conference in the Colorado region that situates the study of Hip Hop culture as a site of cultural literacy, identity formation, and tool for innovative and effective teaching practices.

The keynote speaker is Professor Patrick Douthit, known around the world as the incomparable producer and DJ, 9th Wonder.

The conference theme is derived from the idea that Hip Hop culture and rap music, domestically and abroad, continues to serve as a canvas for fearless practitioners (i.e., artists, producers, entrepreneurs, etc.) and fans that use popular culture as a platform to articulate the conditions of our time, galvanize social movements, and ultimately create change. The next phase of the Sankofa Lecture Series will boldly provide a space for scholars and students to critically analyze this phenomenon within traditional paradigms of academia.

This event is FREE and open to the public. **Seating is limited.**

To submit a proposal for panel-style workshop sessions or vendor opportunities, please contact us at sankofalecture@gmail.com on or before July 1, 2015.

All events will take place in the St. Cajetan's Center
(Auraria Campus, Metro State (MSU Denver).
