---- Background:
In February 2015, about 600 volunteers in 31 venues around the globe engaged in a collective effort to change the world, one Wikipedia entry at a time...adding 101 entries for women artists from around the world, into the pages of Wikipedia.

With less than 13% of Wikipedia's contributors being women, the practical effect of this disparity is clear:

*** Content is skewed by the lack of female participation.

*** Many articles on notable women in history and art are absent on Wikipedia.

*** This represents an alarming aporia in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

The movement is growing! At last count, there are over 70 Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thons planned for 2015.
