**This event was moved from April 17th to May 15th due to weather**
On Sunday, May 15th from 3pm-5pm, Sandra Windsor will be hosting a Book Launch Party for her new book The FBI Wife.

The FBI Wife paints one young woman’s struggles to establish a life separate from the secrets and rigidity of her husband’s employer, the Federal Bureau of Investigation during the tumultuous social revolution of the 1960’s and ‘70’s.

SANDY married her husband CLIFF on August 23, 1958, two days short of her twentieth birthday. She buried him twenty-six years later. This story begins with Cliff’s decision to apply for a Bureau appointment in1963. This is their life for twenty-one years, a time when he becomes absorbed by the adrenalin rush, and she becomes someone she hadn’t intended to become. In spite of misgivings and a certain level of fear, Sandy boards the fast moving FBI train, first headed for Houston where they are assaulted by the Kennedy assassination. Then, on to the south and the civil rights march with Martin Luther King. Vicariously Sandy lives these experiences with her husband.

After all, she is an FBI wife, one who cannot ride in the Bureau car, cannot divorce, and cannot share her opinions with anyone. The noose of the rigid bureaucracy is tightening. Hoover has declared war on organized crime so Cliff is needed in New York.

After eighteen months, start over one more time, this time in Washington D. C. Just like all the other transfers, Sandy wipes the slate clean and sees this as another chance to fix a broken marriage. And it almost happens; however, eighteen months into the assignment Cliff learns an opportunity is opening for a new office in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He wants to leave. She wants to stay. They leave.

The Brownings head toward the Rockies, symbolic of the strength and stature Sandy will need to become her person, to recapture the identity she has lost to the FBI. At the top of Loveland Pass, Sandy makes a commitment to herself to turn away from this confining life and create one of her own.

There is no villain in this story; the Bureau is only the jet fuel propelling the players forward. December 8, 1984, Sandy’s world, once again crashes. Cliff is dead. Sandy’s life can never be the same, but it never was like anyone else’s anyway.
