Colorado Chamber Orchestra’S Winter Carnival says
Saint-Saens’ short musical composition Carnival of the Animals includes the world premiere of a new addition by Music Director Thomas A. Blomster titled DOG. The world premiere of Dr. Guzzo’s new composition Carnival of the Microbesuses uses concepts and instrumentation of Carnival of the Animals and is based on her collaboration with microbiologist Dr. Naomi Ward. This interdisciplinary collaboration is one of many coming from the Ucross Pollination Project in Wyoming.

Jonathan Farwell reads the poems of Ogden Nash that accompany Carnival of the Animals, as well as poems that H. L. Hix wrote working with Dr. Ward.

Watercolors by Yi-Ting Hsu and photos of microbes add a visual component to the concert. With engaging discussions and performances, this is the perfect concert for the young and young at heart.

Camille Saint Saens: Carnival of the Animals
Thomas A. Blomster: DOG
Anne M. Guzzo: Carnival of the Microbes
