This module will cover the fundamentals of sequencing. Basic form and function to vinyasa yoga will be discussed and applied. Discussions will focus on the energetic bell curve in vinyasa sequences and how to safely empower students to move their bodies. Content will speak to the mechanics and building blocks for sequencing to hamstring, hip, and twist focused classes in the first half our sequencing modules.

Christen Bakken is uncertain if she found yoga, or if yoga found her, but since 1998 the yoga mat has been Christen’s refuge. Her first visits to the mat had nothing to do with tight hamstrings or shoulders and instead, had more to do with reducing anxiety. Through movement and breath, she began to see the mat as a place to let go, and, only then, strengthen and soften in all areas of her life.In 2006, Christen took her first power yoga teacher training. As important as teaching is to her life, being a student is even more important. She has done many trainings since then; her most recent string of trainings in 2011, 2012 and 2013 with Rusty Wells in San Francisco. Christen hopes to practice beside you as often as she has the opportunity to guide your practice. Christen loves teaching yoga of all kinds, to all people. Her specialty is weaving together the work we are doing with the body, to the work we can do with the heart and mind. Bhakti, the devotional practice of yoga and Christen’s style, asks students to look past their tight hamstrings and hips, and really begin to see what is magnificent and already perfect about their bodies. Christen’s vigorous flow classes can transform not only the way you move on the mat, but the way you move through your life. Her goal for her classes is to lift your heart and inspire you to see divinity in each moment. Be ready to move, sweat, laugh, shake, and create change!

Participants enrolled in individual modules only need attend 9:45pm-4:15pm and may attend a 8:30am group yoga practice free of charge.
