Denver Retro Con launches to celebrate 60s-70s-80s-90
with entertainment, shopping, music and more on Oct. 23

Nostalgia has always been one of Dana Cain's mainstays. Over the years, she has brought several retro-themed events to the Colorado, including the Denver Modernism Show, the Vintage Voltage Expo, the Toy & Doll Supershow and Baby Boomerama. This fall, she adds the 80s and 90s to her list of decades to celebrate, with the debut of Denver Retro Con, Sunday, October 23 at the Ramada Plaza Denver North, I-25 at 120th.

"Who didn't love the 80s?" asks Cain. "That is really the core decade we're focusing on at Denver Retro Con, even though we'll feature all aspects late 20th century pop culture, from the 60s through the 90s."

Denver Retro Con promises a day of entertainment, contests and music, along with more than 50 vendors selling vintage toys, fashion, vinyl records, housewares, comics and more. Headlining the day's celebration is RocKISSity, a Kiss tribute band playing at 3:00 pm, with full make-up and costumes.

Retro Makeovers and Polaroid photo shoots will be offered all day, too. Attendees can get their bangs "put up" or go for a glam rock Bowie lightning bolt face paint, KISS make-up or Big Hair.

Hyperspace Arcade is Retro Con's Game Sponsor, offering up a dozen standing arcade games, all set to FREE PLAY for the day!

An 80s Fashion Show lights up the Main Events stage with neon colors, leggings and more at 1:00 pm, capped off by an audience 80s Outfit Contest. Attendees can also compete in the Retro TV Trivia Contest (Who Shot JR?) or belt out their favorite tunes at Retro Karaoke.

DJ Rockstar Aaron will be spinning tunes all day, and a breakdance performance from the School of Breaking is set for noon. No Bronco game is scheduled for the Sunday of the Con. .

Hours are 11:00 am - 5:00 pm, and the Ramada Plaza Denver North is located on the southeast corner of I-25 at 120th. Tickets are just $6 online, in advance or $8 at the door. Children under 12 are admitted free, and parking is free. Early Bird entry (10:00 am) is $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Like the event's Facebook page at "Denver Retro Events."
