Family Saturday Workshop: Month Of Photograhy Edition

Time Out says

The Dikeou Collection is pleased to announce its participation in 2015's Month of Photography with two photography-inspired family workshops. The first workshop will be held at the Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St, Suite 515, and will take place on Saturday, March 7, from 12:00 to 4:00pm. The workshop is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided. The focus of this workshop will be on artist Lee Stoetzel's photo series titled Accidental Tourism. In this series, Stoetzel photographed the window sill in his studio and zoomed in on the globs of paint and scratched glass to create images that look more like landscapes than an interior space. Workshop participants will explore the Dikeou Collection with digital cameras and take "extreme close-up" photos of the galleries and the artwork to create images that are familiar yet abstract. Then one or two photographs will be selected to print and take home. Cameras and printing materials will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own cameras from home if they prefer to use their own equipment. The Dikeou Collection's Family Saturday Workshops are a great way for people of all ages to learn more about contemporary art and experiment with new creative processes. Each workshop will begin with a brief guided tour of the collection, as well as a tutorial and presentation of the artwork highlighted that month. UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE DIKEOU COLLECTION Thursday, March 26: Hope and Thanks & the Unforgiving Literary Series featuring Lance Olsen and Mona Awad, organized by Hanna Andrews, at Dikeou Pop-Up: Colfax, 7-9pm Saturday, April 4: Family Saturday Workshop, Sebastiaan Bremer, Schoener Goetterfunken at the Dikeou Collection, 12-4pm, all ages welcome
