Helikon Gallery & Studios says
Join us for the First Friday receptions of two new shows simultaneously on view: 'MYTHOS' in the main gallery and 'Something About the Ghost-Bear Sorrow Skin,' a solo show of new works by Emily Wilcox, in Gallery 101. Featuring live music by Spanish guitarist Ryan Flores.

Mythos: A group exhibition on the theme of world mythology (in the main gallery)

Artist List: Sterling Hundley, Luke Hillestad, Adam S. Doyle, Bailey Henderson, Shaun Berke, Elliot Lang, Jennifer Hrabota Lesser, Cayce Goldberg, Zoe Keller, Marc Scheff, Michael Page, Camille Chew, Daliah Ammar, Jenna Andersen, Nicole Grosjean, Bayo, Stephanie Inagaki, Brandan Styles, Ellie Rusinova, John Van Horn, and Victor Escobedo.

Something About the Ghost-Bear Sorrow-Skin: A former studio artist at Helikon, Emily continues to work prolifically in the Denver area. This new series is a continuation of previous work that has taken mammals as its subject in order to explore “the overlap between humans and the rest of nature.” Emily sees mammals like bears as “helping to define human experience within the context of a world that is bigger than humans,” and in her paintings explores this link between the personal, the ecological, and the cosmic.

Receptions: Thursday, June 2 (6-10pm) and First Friday, June 3 (6-10pm). All receptions are free and open to the public including food and drinks.
