The show will be on display from March 10 through April 25. Opening Reception Friday, March 20 from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. Music by special guest DJ Theodore S, the Art Bar will be open, and Backstage Coffee’s delectable edibles will be served! Artist Talk & Closing Reception: free and open to the public, is scheduled from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 14 in the gallery. Sean Rozales reflects his interpretation of God’s manifestation as seen through nature using large format and camera-less photographic imagery of butterflies. Inspired by the glory and purity of light transfigured out of pain and suffering, Rozales references God’s infinite divinity through the simplistic beauty found in one of earth’s smaller and more delicate creatures. Kelly Shroads pushes the boundaries between darkness and ethereal lightness, while maintaining a rich, yet luminous, duotone color palette. For this series she uses vast, expansive landscapes as her foundation. Kelly explores the theme of Fleeting Beauty with a new series of birds in flight as well as Colorado forest. Whether chaotic or harmonious, Kelly's images evoke the enduring power of the fleeting moments experienced in nature. Andrej Milas finds narrative in his work as he documents the beauty found in objects past their prime. The reflection of what was and the transition from one stage to the next, help reference nature as temporal and highlight the impermanence of all things. Through the process, Milas accentuates the beauty found in the shadows of an objects’ former self and encourages his viewers to see beauty through a different lens. Art Gallery at the DPAC at Backstage Coffee is located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, across from the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, and is conveniently within walking distance of the Convention Center/Arts Complex light rail station.
