A movement/dance class for women who have a complicated relationship with their bodies.
You know who you are! One moment you may be on top of the world and think you are sexy and hot and you are loving (or at least appreciating) your body. And another moment you are in the depths of despair with a body-loathing story. And every feeling along that spectrum. And even more, you KNOW that changing your body through diet or exercise isn't going to change a damn bit of that, your body-hating stories will remain with you no matter what your body looks like. "Perfect" body doesn't equal a perfect life. This will be a space and time to be with our bodies as they are without changing them, and together we'll explore what loving our bodies (and ultimately ourselves) looks and feels like.
Bring on the curves. Bring on the junk. Bring on the girls. Bring ALL of you.
What you need: Bring yourself. Bring a friend or two or three if that feels good. Bring a water bottle. Wear or bring comfortable clothing to move in, at whatever your comfort level is - pants, leggings, shorts, undies, t-shirts, tank tops, bras, sporty or sexy! You'll be moving, so if you're not sure, dress in layers, and you can always shed the layers as you warm up. It's a good idea to always have pants or leggings with you as some of the floorwork is more comfortable when you're learning without leg skin exposed.
What a class looks like: Each class will be unique. Generally we'll start out on yoga mats where we'll check in with each other and have opportunities to process through what has come up during the week. Then I'll guide you through a feminine warmup that most likely will include hip circles. We'll then transition to work on some dancing movement on the floor and occasionally with the poles.
