Juvenile Legislative Update

Recap of juvenile-related bills that passed into law from the 2016 legislative session. The bills discussed will relate to Juvenile Delinquency and Dependency & Neglect case types. Attendees will receive a comprehensive bill matrix with links to legislative history.

Melanie Jordan is a legislative liaison for the Juvenile Law Section. Melanie graduated from the University of Colorado Law School in 2009 and then spent three years doing high conflict divorce litigation. Seeking a happier area of the law, Melanie enjoyed representing first Jefferson County and then Boulder County in both D&N and delinquency cases over the last three years. She is now in private practice with a contract for Respondent Parent Counsel and Guardian ad litem work.
Clancy Johnson, J.D., M.A.L.S., is the Law Clerk at Denver Juvenile Court and has been in that position for nearly three years. She moved to Colorado with her husband during law school, interned at the Denver Public Defenders Office, and graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law. She enjoys hiking and snowshoeing in her free time.
