Shannon Kelly – When Facing the Future Means Burying the Past

This show marks a dramatic departure for Kelly from his previous work - which has always included some form of photography, film or video – in that this is an installation only. The concept behind When Facing is both personal in confronting issues of loss and the attempt to preserve memories of things that inevitably pass, and relevant to the changes Pirate and the wider art community are facing in a changing landscape, politically and economically.

Shannon Kelly studied Film at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he was exposed to the great works of American, international and experimental cinema, and focused on filmmaking as an artistic pursuit. Kelly went on to be awarded two commissions through the City and County of Denver’s 1% Public Art Program, notably a permanent video installation at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. Kelly is currently a member at Pirate: Contemporary Art, where he has held several noteworthy solo shows.

Noah Sodano – ONE (1) thin layer of SPACE-TIME.

In his most ambitious exhibition to date, Noah Sodano uses a unique combination of media to explore the ever-shifting scope (and distortion) of our perceived physical realities. From portraiture and architectural assemblage, to digital photography and projection, Sodano’s work presents varied perspectives of human experience that are at turns intimate and monumental. Noah Sodano studied Sculpture at Colorado State University in Fort Collins CO, and is also an award-winning animator and videographer. Sodano has exhibited work in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, in addition to many group and juried shows in Denver over the last decade. Sodano has been an associate member at Pirate: Contemporary Art since 2016.
